Adrienne grew up in Treaty 1 territory in Winnipeg and obtained her J.D. from the University of Ottawa in 2020. As a student, Adrienne was actively involved in the international human rights and social justice communities. One of her most rewarding projects was being a part of a research team that supported the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing.
Prior to joining Rana Law, Adrienne worked for the First Nations Family Advocate Office (FNFAO) of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, which has a mandate to deliver quality legal service to individuals and contribute to child welfare reform. Adrienne’s work for the FNFAO supported and implemented First Nation laws, enhanced access to justice for First Nations’ families and promoted reconciliation.
Since joining Rana Law, Adrienne has been representing a First Nation participating in the regulatory process for a large, complex project, involving over 100 applications before the Alberta Energy Regulator. She is also providing legal and strategic advice on consultation relating to forestry development and assisting a First Nation in developing a land protection strategy and campaign, bringing together a variety of technical experts for support. She also works on the implementation of Specific Claims settlements and First Nations’ economic development, including supporting First Nations in Canada’s Additions to Reserve process.
